Nestled on the west end of Kamloops Lake, Savona is a thriving community with a rich history.
Originally located on the north side of the lakeshore it was the drop off point of the stagecoach. Those passengers wishing to travel further east got the steamboat to travel to Kamloops. In 1885 CPRail came to the region. Some of the buildings were pulled across the lake on the ice and thus created a new community.
The low cost of living and relaxing lifestyle make Savona a relaxing and enjoyable place to live or visit. The desert area surrounding the town is historically ranching, and remains that way today. The community has a beautiful park, picnic area and boat launch.
Areas of interest include Deadman's Valley west of town where one can view the hoodoos and the dead man falls. This is a scenic trip with several lakes, lava cliffs and waterfalls.
The rest stop to the east at the top of Savona Hill offers a
spectacular view of Kamloops Lake. The Balancing Rock can be seen looking to the west from the lookout. This huge boulder sits on top of a huge clay hoodoo
pillar that has been eroded by thousands of years of wind.
Savona fishing derby offers a great weekend in July and several thousands of dollars in prizes are offered.
There are many activities within a short drive and many lakes to explore.
Come and enjoy our community.
